Our Facility ​
Briarwood Farm is a full-service boarding and lesson facility. We pride ourselves on being a smaller barn where we can give individual attention to every horse and rider. Briarwood is managed by Lisa Doczi, a graduate of the Sweet Briar Riding Program. 

Our Program
We specialize in hunters and jumpers. Our riders participate in local Virginia Beach Horse Show Association-rated shows, C-rated shows, and USEF A and AA-rated competitions. We also attend clinics, cross-country schooling shows, and cross-country schooling days. We run a well-organized program where our riders both compete and have fun.

Meet Lisa Doczi – Manager & Head Instructor​

​Lisa Doczi is a professional riding instructor with decades of experience showing quality hunter ponies and horses, managing horse farms, rider training, breeding, foaling, and sales consultation. A Virginia Beach native, Lisa grew up riding and showing Hunters in the local area and trained with Laurie Lake and Pam Herman. She successfully competed at both local and A-rated levels. While attending Sweet Briar College, she trained with Paul Cronin, Jill Randles, Carol Gwin, Susan Sjolund, and Susan Deal. In 1993 she completed the Sweet Briar Riding Program Teaching Assistant class. Lisa has ridden and audited in clinics with many of the sport’s top clinicians, including Frank Madden, George Morris, Patty Heuckeroth, Pam Baker, Glenn Moody, Jill Randles, Charles McDaniels, Greg Best, and Gavin Moylan. While in college she also hunted regularly with the Farmington and Bedford Hounds. An accomplished instructor, Lisa has successfully taught riders of all ages and abilities — from beginning walk-trot through Children’s and Junior divisions. She teaches both children and adults and has shown and coached on the Arabian and Quarter Horse circuits as well. She currently serves on the Virginia Horse Council and is a former board member of the VBHSA. Lisa brings a true passion for the sport and a wealth of knowledge to every lesson at Briarwood Farm.

Location & Hours

Experience our beautiful farm and amazing horses and ponies. Our trainers and staff love their jobs, and they can accommodate any level of rider. We're located in the heart of pungo which is located in southern Virginia Beach, Virginia.
