​Briarwood Farm

Briarwood Farm is a full service boarding and lesson facility. We pride ourself on being a smaller facility where we can can give individual attention to horses and riders. Briarwood is managed by Lisa Doczi Cohen who is a graduate of the Sweetbriar Riding Program.  ​

We specialize in hunters and jumpers. We participate in local Virginia Beach Horse Show Association rated shows, C shows and USEF A and AA rated shows. We also do activities such as clinics, cross country schooling shows and cross country schooling days. We are a well organized program where we like to compete as well as have fun activities to do with our horses and riders.

Meet the TRAINer

Lisa Doczi is a professional riding instructor with decades of experience showing quality hunter ponies & horses, managing horse farms, rider training, breeding horses, foaling and sales consultation. Lisa grew up riding and showing Hunters in Virginia Beach, and trained with Laurie Lake and Pam Herman. She successfully showed at the local and A- Rated levels.  While in college she rode with Paul Cronin, Jill Randles, Carol Gwin, Susan Sjolund and Susan Deal. She started managing horse farms while attending college in 1992 and successfully completed the Sweet Briar Riding Program Teaching Assistant class in 1993. Lisa has ridden and or audited in the following clinics: Frank Madden, George Morris, Patty Heuckeroth, Pam Baker, Glenn Moody, Jill Randels, Charles McDaniels, Greg Best and Gavin Moylan. While in College Lisa also hunted regularly with the Farmington and Bedford Hounds. Lisa has successfully taught all levels of riders from walk trot to  Children's and Juniors. Lisa teaches both Children and Adults of all levels. Lisa currently sits on the Board of the Virginia Beach Horse Show Association and the Virginia Horse Council. Lisa also has shown and coached on the Arabian and Quarter Horse circuit and enjoys quality horses of any breed.

Experience our beautiful farm and amazing horses and ponies. Our trainers and staff love their jobs, and they can accommodate any level of rider. We're located in the heart of pungo Virginia Beach, Virginia.
